Thanksgiving Message From The Finleys 2020

Thanksgiving is a day that has been celebrated by our country since 1692. However, Christians have practiced a life of being thankful long before then. Being thankful is an essential aspect of Christianity, as we live in a state of acknowledging the great sacrifice that was made by our risen Savior, Jesus Christ. As the scripture has declared in Acts 17:28, for in Him we live, and move, and have our being. Glory to God, from whom all blessings flow!

This has been a trying year for all of us and it is important to remember that it rains on the just as well as the unjust. God has brought us through a pandemic, racial injustice, demonstrations, riots, and political uncertainty. Yet we remain blessed, on fire and full of power; He reigns over the just as well as the unjust. If God be for you, who can be against you?

He is that great I AM, who is able to keep us from falling. Let us look to what is right, what is working, what we have accomplished, and what we have. Let us shy away from focusing on what is wrong, not working, unaccomplished or what we are lacking, for with God all things are possible!

You have every reason to be thankful. Since God is on our side, we can continue to count our blessings. This Thanksgiving, let us all set our affections on things above, stand still and know that He alone is God.

Edwin Finley

The late Edwin L. Finley was born on August 18, 1959, in Los Angeles, CA to Pastor Benny and Missy Anne Mae Finley. As a young man he accepted the calling on his life and served in many capacities at Faithful Church of God in Christ. In 1988, he was ordained as an Elder by Bishop Charles E. Blake.

In 1987, Elder Finley helped to found Life Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Ron M. Gibson. He served as an Assistant Pastor for eight years. In 1995, Elder Finley helped to establish Breakthrough Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Charles E. Gibson and served faithfully for over eleven years as 1st Administrative Assistant to the Pastor and as Sunday School Superintendent.

In 2003, Elder Finley married Evangelist Genise Finley in a lovely ceremony that was assuredly blessed assuredly blessed by God. Together they have four adult children.

In late 2007, Elder Finley answered the call of God on his life to pastor. In September 2008, he founded the Grace Temple Church of God in Christ in Moreno Valley, CA. Pastor Finley and Evangelist Finley co-labor together to encourage the Saints of God to transform their lives, through the power of God. They sought to edify the Body of Christ by equipping the whole-person to serve the community and reach the world to win souls for Jesus Christ.

In 2016, Pastor Finley was appointed as superintendent to the Agape Fellowship District. Superintendent Finley is an anointed preacher, who has been called to speak the uncompromising Word of God. His heart touching message has drawn many to Christ.

On February 1, 2022, Superintendent Edwin L. Finley transitioned from this life to the next, leaving to celebrate his life is wife and co-founder Evangelist Genise Finley, two sons, a host of siblings, family and friends and the congregation of Grace Temple COGIC.
