The Soldier, Athlete, & The Farmer

The Soldier, Athlete, & The Farmer 1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.   2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.   3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.   4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.   5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.   6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.   7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 1. The Soldier: Commitment Amidst Challenges Paul writes: "Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.  No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer."  This metaphor underscores the unwavering commitment required of believers.  A soldier's life is characterized by discipline, focus, and a readiness to face adversity. They prioritize their mission above personal comfort, aiming to satisfy their superior's directives. Modern Example: Consider the life of Jason Brown, a former NFL player who left his stellar football career to develop First Fruits Farms, a faith-based agriministry in North Carolina that donates food to the needy.  Triggered by his brother's death in military service and guided by faith,  His journey exemplifies the soldier's commitment, facing challenges head-on to fulfill a higher purpose.  Adherence to the Rules Paul continues: "Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor's crown except by competing according to the rules."  This analogy highlights the importance of integrity and adherence to divine guidelines.   An athlete's success is contingent upon their commitment to training  respect for the rules governing their sport. Means we have to achieve the Holy & Only way
